Октябрь в Нью-Йорке

И хотя Halloween наступает только в самом конце октября, но умудряется придать всему месяцу мистически-таинственный акцент, окрашивая город в свои контрастные оранжево-черные цвета и обещая буквально каждый день нечто необыкновенное, неожиданное и приятное. Ожидание праздника, веселья и бесшабашной радости придает особенный вкус всему происходящему в городе. И если учесть, что в октябре проходит Oktoberfest, то сомневаться не приходится, месяц будет весьма впечатляющим и разнообразным. Тем более что «серьезным удовольствием» так же есть место в легкомысленном октябре:
Пройдет несколько очень интересный фестивалей кино, откроется знаменитый музыкальный фестиваль «White Light Festival», состояться фестиваль Архитектуры и дизайна, и конечно интереснейший фестиваль искусства и антиквариата.
Кроме того, невозможно пропустить ни один из октябрьских парадов, начиная с парада собак и заканчивая шествием в День Всех Святых и конечно осенний Бал-Маскарад! Даты и подробности ниже в нашей афише.

October 2 – 17 — Gypsy music.  New York Gypsy Festival includes 10 performers from India, Serbia, Russia, Slovakia, Mexico, and the U.S. New York Gypsy Festival

October 4 – Nov. 11 – White Light Festival White Light Festival
See world-class performances, films, and artist talks with a focus on music during White Light Festival at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts.

Oct. 4 – Nov. 2,  – Halloween at the zoo Boo at the Zoo
Boo at the Zoo features costume parades, magic shows, a hay maze, scary stories, pumpkin carving, and treats at the Bronx Zoo and is included free with a regular ticket. *Only Sat., Sun., and Oct. 13 & 31.

October 5, 2014 (12 to 6 p.m.) – Craft beer festival https://nyccraftbeerfest.com/tix
The brand-new Brooklyn Local Craft Beer Festivalfeatures beer from local small to mid-sized breweries plus food trucks at 420 Carroll Street for ages 21+.

October 6, 2014 (6 p.m.)- Parade of Boats – Parade of Boats,
Watch the Parade of Boats, including working ships, historic sailboats, magnificent yachts, and human-powered boats, as a narrator describes their history and purpose at Pier 62, end of W 22nd or 23rd. Free.

October 7 – 15 – Tango festival – Shall We Tango NYC.

October 11 (12 to 4 p.m.) – Lighthouse festival – Kings County Fiber Festival
Tour Manhattan’s only remaining lighthouse (while tickets last) at Little Red Lighthouse Festival with food vendors and live music in Fort Washington Park. Free.

October 11 – 12 – Architecture open house Open House New York Weekend.
Visit 200 of the city’s architecturally and culturally significant spaces and places (many closed to the public) during Open House New York Weekend. Free.

October 13, 2014 (11:30 a.m.)- Columbus Day Parade Columbus Day Parade.
Watch 35,000 marchers and 100 bands, floats, and contingents go up Fifth Avenue from 47th St. in the Italian-American Columbus Day Parade. Free.

Dogs don crazy costumes to win valuable prizes for their owners at Tompkins Square Halloween Dog Parade in Tompkins Square Park. Free.

Halloween Harvest Festival includes costume-making workshops, face painting, a bake-off, storytelling, puppets, spooky walking tours, and a dog costume contest at Socrates Sculpture Park in Queens. Free.

October 28, 2014 (7 p.m.) – Masquerade ball – Le Cirque du Cabaret
Location uncertain. Men wear jackets, ladies wear dresses, and all don venetian masks for the Le Cirque du Cabaret, which begins with a cocktail reception.

October 29 – Whisky festival – WhiskyFest
Taste 300 whiskeys, and learn from master distillers and blenders at WhiskyFest at Marriott-Marquis.

October 31 – Halloween at the museum – Halloween Celebration
Kids can come in costume for trick-or-treating, magic shows, craft projects, music, and live storybook characters at the evening Halloween Celebration at the American Museum of Natural History.

The big Village Halloween Parade features 53 bands, dancers, artists, puppets, and thousands of New Yorkers in costume parading up 6th Avenue. Free.

Mix, mingle, frisk, and frolic to DJ tunes at theMasquerade Ball in the grand opulence of Capitale.

October 31 – Halloween costume ball –  Village Halloween Costume Ball
Dance, dine, show off your costume, and watch creative cabaret acts all evening at the Village Halloween Costume Ball at Theater for the New City.

October 31, 2014 (10 p.m.) – Victorian Halloween Ball – Phantasmagorey Victorian Halloween Ball
Phantasmagorey Victorian Halloween Ball has a dark and whimsical Edward Gorey theme, with costumes, digital art, jazz, and optional dessert buffet in a haunted Victorian mansion at Down Town Association.
